250 RACE RESULTS // 2023 WASHOUGAL NATIONAL (UPDATED)
250 RACE RESULTS // 2023 WASHOUGAL NATIONAL
The Washougal National is by far the most scenic race of the year, with the track flowing elegantly through the hills, between the trees. Coming into Washougal, Hunter Lawrence has five wins, the rookie, Haiden Deegan has one win and the Frenchman, Tom Vialle, has a win as well. With a 13 point lead and five wins, Hunter is the man to beat in the 250 class, but at Red Bud and Southwick, we’ve seen him have two DNF finishes (second moto at Red Bud, first moto at Southwick), which means that even the best aren’t immune to mistakes and bike malfunctions.

Justin Cooper grabbed the holeshot with Levi Kitchen and Seth Hammaker trailing, first moto winner, Haiden Deegan, wad fourth early, with RJ Hampshire and Hunter Lawrence fifth and sixth on the first lap. Haiden Deegan snuck passed Seth Hammaker on the second lap, and then RJ Hampshire crashed in the corner before the finish line whoops, at the end of the second lap. Cooper, Kitchen, Deegan and Lawrence ran 1-2-3-4 for the first 10 minutes of the race, but with 18 and a half minutes to go, Hunter was close to passing Deegan in the tree section before the finish, and he slid out. It was a simple baseball-style slide, and he got up quickly from it, only losing six seconds to Haiden Deegan and only being passed by one rider, Seth Hammaker.
Haiden Deegan made a gutsy pass on Levi Kitchen to get into second place and secure the overall win for the day with 1-2 scores, but he wasn’t done yet. With three minutes to go, Haiden has closed the gap to 1.9 seconds to leader Justin Cooper, with Levi Kitchen 11 seconds off the lead and Hunter Lawrence still fourth, three seconds behind Levi. At the finish, Haiden Deegan made a pass on Justin Cooper and pulled away on the last few laps.

250 MOTO 1 RESULTS
Haiden Deegan grabbed the holeshot and rode incredibly after that.
The gate dropped quickly for the first moto, and it was Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan and Justin Cooper to lead the pack up the hill. Max Vohland quickly passed Cooper, but then Justin made his way back into second shortly after. Seth Hammaker was fourth and Levi Kitchen was fifth on the first lap. Hunter Lawrence was ninth off the start, but quickly moved up to sixth on lap one.
Twelve minutes into the moto, after a long push, Hunter Lawrence finally makes the pass on Levi Kitchen for fifth place, and he passed Seth Hammaker the next lap. Unfortunately, Southwick’s overall winner, Tom Vialle, crashed out and went to the Alpinestars medical truck. Ryder Difrancesco also retired from the race early.
With ten minutes to go, Hunter Lawrence passed Max Vohland for third place, and he move up to be within two seconds of second place, Justin Cooper, and seven seconds behind Haiden Deegan. With three minutes plus two laps to go, Hunter Lawrence made an aggressive pass on Justin Cooper for second.
