JUSTIN BARCIA IS BACK IN ACTION AT UNADILLA ON SATURDAY
Justin was one of the many wounded 450 riders, who missed the start of the 2023 AMA National Championship
Saturday’s Unadilla 250/450 National is the 9th round of the 11-round 2023 AMA National Motocross Championship and GasGas factory rider Justin Barcia will make his first appearance of the 2023 National season. MXA ran into Justin at the Citta di Castelo track for the GasGas “Spice It Up Festival” in Italy last week where he was doing laps to get ready for his first 450 National on Saturday.
Justin was injured at the Nashville Supercross when he missed the step-off on the dragonback, suffering broken bones and complications that delayed his return to racing. Despite missing the last two Supercross events and the first eight Nationals, Justin is still 10th in the combined SuperMotocross Playoff standings (from which the top 20 transfer straight into the $5.5 million dollar three-race showdown).
Justin said, “We are past the injury now after two surgeries, lots of training and a lot of recovery, so I’m definitely excited to come back at my home race in New York for the fans and myself. There are no expectations set because I’ve been off for a lot of months, so I just want to go out there and have fun. I just need to get back to the races and enjoy being around the team, as well as my family and friends there. Unadilla’s going to be a cool race!”
