CHASE SEXTON INTERVIEW: “I MUST BE AT MY ABSOLUTE BEST”
Now third in Supercross points, Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton understands he needs some wins. And if anyone can do it, it’s Sexton, who grew up three hours away in Lamoille, IL. While getting used to his new KTM, and nursing an injured hand, Chase has been feeling more comfortable race by race. We talked with Chase after a strong third overall at Lucas Oil Stadium.

2024 INDIANAPOLIS SUPERCROSS // FULL COVERAGE
CHASE, DESPITE RELOCATING TO FLORIDA, THIS IS ACTUALLY YOUR HOME TRACK? Yes, I grew up about three hours away. This one and St. Louis are pretty much my home Supercross’s. I walked this track in person many times in the past, but also in St. Louis too. They are about three hours from my house.
Chase Sexton is currently third in the 2024 points standings.
YOU KNOW, MOVING OVER FROM THE ALUMINUM-FRAMED HONDA TO THE STEEL-FRAMED KTM WAS A BIG OFF-SEASON CHANGED FOR YOU, ESPECIALLY AFTER RIDING HONDA’S YOUR ENTIRE PRO CAREER. This year was a big change. As you said, I am going from an aluminum frame to a steel frame. It is a lot different, but you know what, we must get used to it and it took a whole off-season to get used to the bike. And now like I said, we are starting to build and get better; it is a little late but better late than never. I just want to keep on progressing and try to dig myself out of this hole I have myself in.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE TRIPLE CROWN FORMAT? I like the Triple Crown. They were pretty good to me in the past and this one being in Indy is going to be gnarly with the dirt being soft. but overall, it should be a good racetrack and it looks like the Dirt Works guys did a good job, so I am looking forward to it.
Chase has been building each weekend since recovering from his hand injury that happened earlier in the season.
HOW ARE YOU FEELING AND WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SERIES? My hand is getting better. Overall, I am riding better, and getting the bike better, so all that is left to do is win races and see where we end up. That is my goal; just try to win races and put myself back into a good position.
LET’S WRAP UP; HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR THIRD OVERALL AT INDY? I feel better than I have been, but the results did not really show. I need to improve my riding. We just need to keep working. I feel that I’m still not at my best.
Looking ahead Chase Sexton is motivated to grab more wins this season.
HOLD UP THOUGH; YOU RODE AWESOME TO COME THROUGH THE PACK IN THE FIRST TWO MAINS. I SUSPECT THAT THE RACE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT HAD YOU STARTED UP FRONT EVERY MAIN. Yes, maybe you are right, but I still need to improve my speed. Also, as you said, better starts would make things better for me. So, I guess I rode well, but racing against these guys (Jett Lawrence, Ken Roczen), I must be at my absolute best. Hopefully, we can take something from my riding at Indy for the next round.
