MXA’S WEEKEND NEWS ROUND-UP: AT LEAST “THE FIRST WEEK JITTERS” ARE OUT OF THE WAY

• PLEASE READ THIS RULE SO YOU CAN EXPLAIN IT TO THE AMA

If this rider was French, he’d  be penalized, but he’s an Aussie so this is close enough.      Photo: Jon Ortner

AMA RULE NUMBER 1.6.20 — TRACK CUTTING/UNFAIR ADVANTAGE

a. Riders must remain on the marked course. The course will be marked by track markers, boundary markers, hay bales, tuff blocks, dirt mounds, etc. If the marking devices are knocked down, the rider must stay on the original marked course.

b. A Rider leaving the course may only continue by properly re-entering the course, without gaining a time or position advantage, from the closest possible point to where that Rider left the course. While off course, the Rider must immediately slow down to a safe speed so as not to endanger life or limb of other riders, crew members, officials or the public and must not accelerate in an unsafe manner at any time.

c. The Race Director will make the determination as to whether a Rider gained any advantage by leaving the racecourse and re-entering. The Rider may be determined to have gained an advantage without gaining a position, failed to slow down after leaving the course or accelerated in an unsafe manner.

d. Or, we could just line the track with Mastercraft boats—because we know that works.

The mounts are made from Grade 5 6AL-4V titanium.

The kit consists of 2 titanium foot peg mounts (Left and Right), 2 titanium pins, 2 titanium washers and 2 cotter pins. The Work Connection mounts are 30% lighter and works with any brand of foot peg. The retail price is $349.95. For more info go to www.worksconnection.com
