WSX POINTS, STANDINGS, AND SCORING

The WSX series is a bit different than traditional AMA Supercross racing. Starting with qualifying, the WSX (450 Class) and SX2 (250 Class) will each receive two individual qualifying sessions. These times will be for gate positions in the main events. Each qualifying session is 10 minutes, with the final laps being completed after the 10-minutes have expired.

Following the qualifying sessions, the riders will then go into heat races. For the WSX (450 Class), the result of the heat race will determine their position in the Superpole, which is a time trial format that determines the gate position for the main events. The top five riders from each heat will then go into the 10-rider Superpole, the sixth to 11th place finishers in each heat will fill spots 11-22 in the gate pick order for the main event, with the faster overall heat taking precedence and gate picks alternating between the remaining riders

The  250 class (SX2) is less confusing. Back falls back on the original Supercross format, the riders with preferable results in the heat race will receive a better gate positioning into the main event.

The Superpole is a timed formatted race where the riders from the top 5 in the heat races will compete for the quickest time in order to determine gate positioning. Again this is only for the 450 Class (WSX ).

The main events will consist of three back-to-back motos that are combined and totaled for overall results using the Olympic system.

The points for each main event resemble the old Supercross points system 25, 22, 20, 18, and 16 points for first through fifth place, with the remaining 17 riders earning from 15 points to 1 point, depending on where they finish. In total, a maximum of 75 points can be awarded per round. Points are awarded per main event.
