BREAKING NEWS! MICHAEL MOSIMAN SIGNS 2-YEAR DEAL WITH STAR RACING YAMAHA
Michael Mosiman turned Pro with the Rockstar Husqvarna team in 2017, racing with them for three seasons before moving to Husqvarna’s sister brand, GasGas, for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons. Highlight races for Mosiman came in 2022 when he scored multiple podium finishes in Supercross and won the 2022 San Diego Supercross 250SX Main Event and the first moto of the 2022 Hangtown National. When it came time to renew contracts for 2024, Michael’s name was off the list and Ryder DiFrancesco’s was added. Originally, it seemed like he would sign with the newly formed Triumph racing team for 2024. Still, during contract negotiations, they elected to go with Jalek Swoll and Evan Ferry in Supercross, with Joey Savatgy joining the team for 250 Outdoors in 2024 and the 450 class in 2025.
Making it harder to negotiate contracts was the fact that Michael was banking on the Triumph spot working out, and the fact that he was injured and missed the Outdoor season and SMX rounds didn’t help. Michael hurt his shoulder during the first-turn crash at the 2023 Hangtown National (the same crash that ended Jeremy Martin’s season early with a broken wrist).
The Star Racing Yamaha team opened their doors for Mosiman to test their bike in early January, and now they’ve agreed to a two-year deal, which has him starting his 2024 season at the Seattle Supercross, on March 23rd. After Seattle, he’ll race at St. Louis, on March 30th, the 250SX East/West Showdown in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 20th, then the Denver Supercross on May 4th, and the Salt Lake City Supercross finale, on May 11th.
Yamaha press release: Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing is happy to announce that Michael Mosiman has signed a multi-year deal that will see him join their talented 250-team lineup. The Californian will race the remaining rounds of the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship Series, starting with the Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250SX West Championship and then a full season of the Pro Motocross 250MX Championship to campaign for top honors during the three-round SuperMotocross World Finals.
Mosiman has shown strength and the pace to run up front. He took home his first 250SX win at San Diego Supercross in 2022 and finished third in the Western Regional 250 class that season. Unfortunately, injuries sidelined him from a full season last year. Back to full fitness, a reenergized Mosiman is eager to get back on track with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team and make his debut aboard the YZ250F at Round 6 of the 250SX West Championship at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington, on March 23.
Star Racing Yamaha is the biggest factory team in the pits. And they just added another rider mid-season.
Jensen Hendler – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 250 Team Manager
“We’re excited to have Michael join the team. We’ve only been working with him for a little bit, but we feel he has the speed and can battle upfront. It’s not easy to jump into a season that’s already been rolling, but we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do and are looking forward to Seattle.”
Michael Mosiman – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing #76
“I am honored to be a part of such a successful team and to be surrounded by so many driven individuals. In my short time of getting to know the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team, I have been impressed with the dedication, commitment, and passion they have for the sport and for winning. I am thrilled to be part of the organization and am looking forward to getting back to racing. Being off the bike and away from racing for a bit has allowed me to truly reset and return stronger both physically and mentally. I think the partnership with Star Yamaha could not have come at a better time in my career.”
