The 2004 YZ250 that brought Chad Reed his first AMA Supercross title.
CHAD REED’S 2004 FACTORY YZ250 TWO-STROKE
In 2004, Chad Reed won his first AMA Supercross title on a Factory Yamaha YZ250 by 34 points over Kevin Windham. You could say Chad got lucky. Ricky Carmichael who won the title over Chad the year prior had surgery on a torn ACL and was sidelined for the 2004 Supercross season. Chad won 10 out of 16 races that year. He was the man to beat going into outdoors, but Ricky returned stronger than ever and won 24 of 24 motos.
Chad’s 2004 YZ250 had a steel frame, Kayaba suspension, Pro Taper bars, Excel rims, Bridgestone tires and a Pro Circuit exhaust.
Chad won 10 of the 16 Supercross rounds in 2004.
