Here is the actual list of 450 riders who qualified with the 10 Last Chance riders at the bottom.
Due to various circumstances across each division, the seeded field has been adjusted to reflect the current status of each athlete. In the 450cc class, Eli Tomac will be forced to forgo the SMX Playoffs as he continues to recover from a ruptured achilles suffered earlier this season. As a result, the seeded premier class field will consist of 19 racers and will in turn provide three transfer positions out of the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).
In the 450cc class, injuries and other factors have led to Jose Butron (21st), Christian Craig (22nd), Lorenzo Locurcio (24th), Benny Bloss (28th), Romain Pape (29th) and Joey Savatgy (30th) not being able to make the race. These vacancies have allowed Josh Cartwright, Jerry Robin, Jeremy Hand, Bryce Shelly, Jace Kessler, and Max Miller into the SMX program.

In the 250cc class, Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence will contest the 450cc division as the third seed and will forgo his spot in the 250cc field. An additional vacancy will come from Team Honda’s Chance Hymas, who continues his recovery from a torn ACL suffered this summer. With the absence of two seeds, the 250cc class will provide four transfer positions out of the LCQ.
In the 250cc division, injuries and other factors have led to Enzo Lopes (21st), Jeremy Martin (22nd), Mitchell Oldenburg (25th), Nate Thrasher (26th), Daxton Bennick (28th), Stilez Robertson (29th) and Cameron McAdoo (30th) not being able to compete. As a result, Austin Forkner, Coty Schock, Preston Kilroy, Josh Varize, Michael Hicks, Hunter Yoder, and Luke Neese will be in the LCQ program.

• MXA AD OF THE WEEK: “SIX OUT OF THE PAST SEVEN”
CZ may have won six out of the past seven years in the 250 or 500 class back in the 1960s and 1970s with Viktor Arbekov, Joel Robert and Paul Friedrichs, but the 1972 CZ125 was lucky to win a local race. It had the same chassis, seat, tank, wheels and suspension as on the CZ360, but with an anemic 125cc engine. CZ claimed 225 pounds during an era when 125s weight 195 pounds.
• MXA COVER OF THE WEEK: “TOMORROW’S MX BIKES” NEVER GOT HERE
When this August 1993 cover came out, there was little doubt that the lack of signage on motocross bikes had hurt them when it came to signing outside sponsors. Over 30 years ago, Slater Skins and Rhino Skins tried to get race teams to switch to bodywork that would allow sponsors logos to be visible from the stands. Although a handful or Arenacross and freestyle riders adopted them, no factory race teams took the plunge because the motorcycle manufacturers didn’t want the teams covering up the look of their bikes.
• BIKES YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE: 1980 DERBI RC125
This water-cooled 1980 Derbi RC125, shot at Saddleback Park, may well have been the only one imported to the United States in 1980.

MXA TEAM TESTED: BOLT MX KAWASAKI KX250/KX450 PERMA-NUT
The BoltMX KX250/KX450 perma-nut kit stops the T-nut plates from falling out of your Kawasaki’s rear fender.
At first glance, the side-mounted 2019–2023 Kawasaki KX airboxes and air filters look like a cool idea—until you start living with them. Problems? We have a few. (1) It takes two different-size T-handles to get the Kawasaki airbox cover off. KTM, GasGas and Husqvarna have no bolts. Yamaha has a single Dzus fastener and Honda has one bolt. Word on the street is that the 2024 Kawasaki KX450 will have no bolts also. We aren’t complaining about having to loosen two bolts, but we are complaining about having to loosen two different-size bolts. It shows a lack of understanding about what buyer’s appreciate. (2) Kawasaki’s filter-cage design is difficult to use, which is odd because Kawasaki redesigned it to make it easier to use. (3) The KX airbox is so small that there is no room to maneuver the cage, and you can’t see the hook and post when you are installing the filter. (4) When you remove the top airbox cover bolt, which doubles as the left seat bolt, the T-nut plate, that the seat bolt threads into, falls out of its recess in the rear fender and lands on the ground..
Bolt MX’s Perma-Nuts differ from the standard Kawasaki T-nut plate in that the threaded tubular extension, that the airbox cover bolt threads into, has a lip at the top of the tube that has a larger diameter than the threaded tube and hole in the plastic fender. So, when you tighten the Bolt’s Perma-Nuts the first time, the large lip is pulled through the Kawasaki fender plastic, which means that it can’t fall out. Problem solved.
They are a snap to install. You use the stock seat bolt to pull the BoltMX Perma-Nut T-plate through the plastic fender. It takes about 10 minutes to do both sides of the Kawasaki. Of course, the job of installing them is made easier because the stock T-plates fall out and don’t have to be removed. Bolt MX solved the problem that has stymied Kawasaki since 2019. When the World Vet Motocross Championship was founded by Tom White, Jody Weisel and Alan Olson in 1985, the only two age groups were Over-30 and Over-40, (Over-50 was added in 1988, Over-60 in 1994, Over-70 in 2001 and Over-80 in 2019). It was unimaginable back in 1985 that the World Vet would grow to 1000 riders over a three-day race and have classes for Over-30, Over-40, Over-50, Over-60, Over-70 and Over-80 year old riders (with 5-year increments at 35, 45, 55 and 65).
